A great weekend of cricket saw the Kookaburra Fourth Eleven win outright against Kingston Hawthorn on Sunday. The match was played at Trinity Playing fields as Kingston Hawthorn were unable to secure a ground and as a result we had to play Saturday/Sunday. This worked in our favour as the boys were running red-hot and cleaned them up for 52 in the first innings. After passing their score and a quick declaration we bowled them out cheaply again and only had to make 20 runs to secure the outright victory.
Great support was shown by the club with many players and supporters form the other elevens coming down to support the boys.
Across the season, 34 players have taken the field at some stage for our 4th XI – including many from the Harvey-Watts Academy – and they have all contributed to the team’s success so far.
A great victory and it should secure a finals birth for the side.
